Brief history of the library of Nyíracsád
From the 1950s onwards there has been a public library in Nyíracsád. In those times, the library operated in the primary school and part-time librarians and teachers helped the visitors.
On 1st January 1963, the library became independent and moved to the new cultural centre of the village.
In the 17th century Nyíracsád was a Vécsey estate. The Vécsey mansion was built at the end of the 18th century and was remodelled in 1958. The building, fit for the gentry lifestyle, has a rectangular layout and a columned porch. This old residential building is now used as a library.
Throughout the decades they have enlarged the stock of books in the library. In October 2000 the library moved to the Vécsey. The operating conditions of the institution have greatly changed. Books have been placed in several different rooms. In the beautiful spacious reading room can visitors use the services provided by the library.
Keeping up-to-date with modern technology, computers and the Internet play an important role among the services of the library.
